A champion that doesn't have the mettle, OR SPEED to defend it. He would really be enjoying the view of a red Ferrari and a silver McLaren up the road if Schumacher hadn't retired. He's being beaten by a rookie, albeit talented that has driven for the first time on some of these circuits. Fernando Alonso this year is proving what a massive talent Michael Schumacher was. When he battled back in last year's championship. On equal footings, and equal cars the championship would have been over 2/3 of the way through. And Alonso would have been bridesmaid. He has his place in history, one of the few to beat Michael Schumacher. But it was Renault that vanquished the seven times world champion. Alonso is proving exactly what he is this year.
